Tornado destroyed home. We lost everything

$2,100 USD raised of $10,000 goal

Hi, my name is Megan and my family just lost everything to a tornado. My husband and two young kids were in the house at the time of the tornado. They were able to get to a safe area and avoid major injuries. We are blessed that no one was hurt, but they literally left the house without even shoes on their feet. Everything is gone and not salvageable. We would appreciate any help to get back on our feet.

We cannot thank everyone enough for the shelter, funding, clothes, hanging with the kids/dogs, kind words, prayers, and encouragement.

Jason had minor injuries, and the kids were amazingly uninjured thanks to Jason’s fast thinking. Our neighbors jumped into action and helped get the kids out of the rubble and to safety. I can never thank them enough. We had Pearl with us, also uninjured. And we found Peppermint about 20 hours later in the unstable area of the upper floor. Again, our neighbors and those that came out to help, jumped into action and created a human ladder to get her down safely. Peppermint was also amazingly uninjured.

We have each other. We all made it. That’s the most important thing. Others in our neighborhood were not as fortunate and my heart is bleeding for them. I can’t imagine what would have happened if I lost Jason or the kids.

We keep getting asked what we need, and I honestly don’t know how to answer right now. We’re trying to navigate through everything.

We have a place to stay thanks to our job. We have some clothes, as well. We have small food items here. Right now, our focus is on finding a place to live, and then working to rebuild from there.

Again, I can’t thank everyone enough for jumping in and helping us in any way that they can. We are forever grateful.
